United Way for Greater Austin brings people, ideas, and resources together to fight poverty in our community. Since 1924, we have been dedicated to providing families and individuals in need with the tools and resources they need to thrive. We address complex community issues by investing in the building blocks of opportunity that every person – and every community – needs to thrive: education, health, and financial stability.

Community Investment Grants

We know we are not in this fight against poverty alone. By partnering with key community leaders and stakeholders, we identify proven strategies and work toward a common goal. These efforts are backed up with Community Investment Grants (CIGs) to amplify our collective impact. These CIGs are made possible by the donations of thousands of community investors each year, and United Way is committed to serving as a strategic steward of these community dollars.

In Austin/Travis County, United Way currently funds strategies that advance the goals of two community-led coalitions - the Success By 6 Coalition and the 2-Gen Coalition. We make three-year commitments to our partner organizations and only issue calls for proposals every three years. Current partner grants started in July 2022 and will end June 2025. We anticipate our next call for proposal process in Fall 2024. 

In Williamson County, United Way currently funds strategies under education, health, and financial stability and aligned our funding with the Success By 6 Coalition and the Healthy Williamson County Coalition. We currently sign one-year grant agreements. Current partner grants start in July 2023 and will end June 2024. We anticipate our next call for proposals in Winter 2023.
